Week #7

Week 7 of the #smallandsimplechallenge . We’re taking a break from more physical stuff this week. There is a relaxing breathing technique called ‘4-7-8 breathing’ and it works like this: Inhale through the nose for 4 seconds, hold the breath for 7 seconds and exhale through the mouth forcefully for 8 seconds. Repeat this up to 4 times. Be careful not to get too lightheaded!
The challenge is to do this process everyday before bed. If needed cut the time in half to 2-3.5-4 and work up. If you can do it twice a day even better.
This technique is believed to help with anxiety and can help you relax and fall asleep quicker. Try it out and let us know if it helps. There is also an app called ‘Breathe’ that will walk you through this process.
